But a certain type of student comes to me with another sentence: "Wen Laoshi, I already know I want to leave, I just want to know if the timing is right." What they're asking about is timing. And for timing, the best tool is the Career Palace in Zi Wei Dou Shu (Purple Star Astrology).

1. Where Is the Career Palace on a Birth Chart?

Zi Wei Dou Shu divides a lifetime into twelve palaces — starting from the Life Palace, then Siblings, Marriage, Children, Wealth, Health, Travel, Friends, Career, Property, Blessings, Parents, and back to Life.

The Career Palace in zi wei dou shu is not really about "can I get promoted." It reads three deeper things — the work mode that suits you (independent / team / freelance), the beneficial and adversarial stars on your career axis, and the rise-and-fall rhythm of career energy across your ten-year cycles. Once these three are clear, you won't mistake a "temporary emotional low" for "this job is fundamentally wrong for me."

2. Three Career Palace Configurations, Three Quitting Windows

The zi wei dou shu career palace falls broadly into three configurations —

• Strong main star, auspicious transformation: the palace is energetically full. People in this configuration should quit only with great caution — you're likely already in your best-fit field, and "wanting to leave" comes from fatigue, not fundamental misfit.

• Weak main star, malefic entry: the palace is under heavy pressure. If you've been in the same job for over three years and your current ten-year cycle is unfavorable, "leaving" is reasonable — staying only prolongs the drain.

• Empty palace, borrowed stars: the career palace has no native main star and borrows from the opposite palace (Marriage). Your career direction is often shaped by a partner or collaborator, so a quitting decision must be read together with the relationship.

After reading one chart, the question shifts from "should I leave" to "does this job match my native energy structure."

3. Ten-Year Cycles and Yearly Fortunes — Lowest-Risk Windows

The other half of timing lies in the ten-year cycle and the yearly fortune.

A simple rule of thumb — when the ten-year cycle brings Zi Wei, Tian Fu, Sun (Tai Yang), or Tian Liang into the career palace, it's a "rooting

decade," not the time for major moves; when the cycle brings Po Jun, Qi Sha, or Tan Lang into the career palace, it's a "shifting decade," a good time to quit your current job and start fresh. Overlay this with yearly fortune: even in a shifting decade, choose a year when auspicious stars enter, and the risk drops to its lowest.

Once you see your ten-year cycle and yearly fortune clearly, quitting stops being "I'm in a bad mood today" and becomes "I now see which stretch of my life rhythm I'm on."

时机的另一半是大运（十年一走）和流年（一年一走）。
