Good Economy and Bad Economy Were Never the Same Thing

A strange phenomenon: experts say the economy is great, you feel it's not. They say it's bad, stocks are rising.

Did the world change, or did our way of understanding it break?

I-Ching's most core idea is four words: yin-yang transformation.

Yang contains yin's seed. Yin contains yang's sprout. Peak goodness is where bad begins. Rock bottom is where good starts.

GDP 5.8% looks great. But BCI 78.5—the shadow of doubt has already grown inside the good data. Like the hottest day of summer—autumn has already quietly begun brewing.

This is why ancients said "think of danger when safe." Not pessimism. It's telling you: stability itself contains seeds of change, you must see them.

I've seen a typical scene. A boss profits during good times, immediately expands—bigger office, more staff, longer lease. He assumes good days continue. Two years later the economy cools, his fixed costs become a mountain.

Another boss in the same period profited, then started cutting unnecessary expenses, prepaying loans, building cash reserves. Peers called him timid. When the economy cooled, he was the most composed.

The difference wasn't ability. It was their understanding of "good." One thought good = always good. The other knew good already contains seeds of bad.

Most people's decision framework is linear: good → better. Bad → worse. Easy to think this way, but completely disconnected from reality.

The real world works in circles: good at peak turns bad, bad at bottom turns good. Those two dots in the taiji symbol mean exactly this—at the extreme, the opposite is already inside.

Wen Laoshi observes: people who make right decisions aren't better at judging. They accept that good and bad are always transforming.

They don't charge because GDP looks good. They don't run because confidence is low. They do one thing: read the signals of transformation.

Times change, methods get simpler—but the ability to "read change" hasn't changed in 3,000 years. You don't need to be smarter than others, you just need to see the moment of transformation a bit earlier.
