1. That Row of Succulents on Your Desk

Top-left corner of the desk: succulent. Top-right: another. Two more beside the monitor. A mint pot in front of the keyboard. An air plant hanging from the window.

You think it's therapeutic.

A colleague walks past: "Your desk looks like a flower market."

You laugh it off. But have you noticed — the decisions you make on that desk are getting harder?

You blame the work.

Actually, the focal point of your desk is gone.

There's a feng shui word — gather qi. Not mystical. Just: the small things in your space you never notice, but that steal a slice of your attention every day. Add too many, attention scatters.

Eyes scatter first. Then the mind. Then the option count doubles.

2. Three "More Green = More Prosperous" Wrong Moves

A: More plants = more prosperous.

Intuitive. Except — "prosperous" isn't "gathered." Eight plants make the room prosperous. Your attention is scattered.

B: Every plant has a different feng shui function.

One for wealth, one for bad energy, one for the year. In practice — they fight each other, like 8 musicians each playing a different song.

C: Succulents are cheap. A few more won't hurt.

They're cheap. Your eyes aren't. 0.3 seconds per pot, 8 pots = 2.4 seconds — one lost thought.

One line:

Plant-based feng shui isn't about how much green. It's about where the focal point is.

One room, one desk, one space — one main plant. The rest are supporting cast, or gone.

The main plant anchors the eye. Eye settles, mind settles, options shrink.

3. IKEA vs Apple Store

You've been to both.

IKEA: 500 items greet you at the door. Two hours later you leave with 4 things you didn't need.

Apple Store: one long table, a handful of devices. Air feels empty. You walk over, pick something up, and actually look.

IKEA adds. Apple subtracts.

Designers agree — one visual focal point per space. More than one isn't richness. It's a fight.

Your 8 succulents are your 500 IKEA items.

4. One Line: A Plant Is an Anchor, Not Decor

One room, one plant. Position, species, orientation — that is what plant feng shui actually looks at.

The other seven go to the hallway or a friend's house.
