Consumers' Feet Are "Qi"—Wherever They Walk, Open Your Door There/消費者的腳,就是「氣」——他們往哪走,你就得把門開在哪

Feng shui talks about "qi." In cities, what is qi? Qi is foot traffic.
Where consumers walk, qi flows. Where qi flows, prosperity. Where it doesn't, decline.

50.9% sales weakening—but note: not all sales. Online consumption is growing.
Consumers' feet are moving online. Your store? Is your door still at the physical "qi entrance"?
Plant feng shui has a principle called "follow the flow, guide the qi." Not chasing consumers, but positioning yourself where consumers are heading before they arrive.
Like planting—you can't put a shade-loving plant in full sun and blame it for not growing. You place it where it wants to be.
I met a bakery owner. Her shop was in an alley off an old KL street, foot traffic declining. She couldn't figure out why customers kept dropping. I visited—the alley's "qi" was indeed fading, half the neighboring shops closed.
But I noticed a detail: at the alley entrance was a path to a large parking lot, with heavy pedestrian flow during rush hour. She made an adjustment—placed outdoor seating at the alley entrance, added some vibrant plants, hung a clean sign. Pedestrians started following the sign in. Three months later, foot traffic doubled.
Not chasing consumers. She positioned a "qi entrance" where consumers were already walking.
But you don't need to chase every trend. You need to see which direction the mainstream qi flows.
I knew a handcrafted leather goods owner. Her shop was in a creative park with modest traffic. But she transformed it into an "experience space"—customers could sit for tea, watch her craft live, even try making their own pieces. Visitors might not buy immediately, but they remembered the space. Three months later, 40% of her online orders came from store visitors. Physical qi hasn't disappeared—it just changed form, from "transaction" to "experience." Physical stores can still work. But your store must become an "experience venue" not a "transaction venue"—because the qi of transaction has flowed online.
